WILLEMSTAD - During a large-scale traffic control operation in Santa Rosa on Tuesday morning, the Curaçao Police Force issued 96 fines after inspecting 117 vehicles between 6:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.
According to police reports, the majority of citations were issued for driving without a valid inspection certificate, driver’s license, insurance, or paid motor vehicle tax.
Other common violations included missing license plates and failure to wear seatbelts.
Officers also fined several drivers for tinted windows that exceeded legal limits, using mobile phones while driving, and driving in the wrong direction.
Two vehicles were towed from the scene due to serious violations.
The police say similar traffic checks will continue across the island as part of ongoing efforts to improve road safety and enforce compliance with vehicle regulations.
