WILLEMSTAD - The case against three police officers suspected of aggravated assault was adjourned until March 14. Two of the three had also previously been charged with excessive violence.
The Public Prosecution Service accuses the three officers of aggravated assault on a man named C. Schmidt in February 2017.
According to the charges, one of the officers punched the victim in the chest with his fist, while the other officer kicked him in the ribs. He was then violently pushed against the asphalt with his head. He was hospitalized with broken ribs.
Just before that, police had ordered a group of men playing dominoes to leave. Once he arrived at his house, the man noticed that he had been followed by the police. He then quickly drove away, but was forced to stop and the police attacked him.
Because the lawyers still have several investigation requests, the judge decided to postpone the case until March 14.
