WILLEMSTAD - The police are satisfied with the behavior of the community. "Overall, we qualify the public's behavior in connection with the measures as acceptable," police said in a statement.
On Friday evening, the police announced that they had handed out a total of 40 fines in the 48 hours before that in connection with the Covid-19 measures. Most of the fines were imposed in connection with curfew violations. An official report was also drawn up for violating the closing times of catering establishments.
The police have set up roadblocks and checked 67 vehicles in various places. Two drivers received a fine for an expired insurance certificate.
Despite the fines, the police say they are satisfied with the behavior of most people. According to the police, the call to stay at home and celebrate Christmas in a small family atmosphere was fully responded to.
The police hope that people will also keep to the rules in the coming days, also around the turn of the year. Police say they value people's social scrutiny and are calling for violations of the Covid-19 measures to be reported on 917 or WhatsApp on +5999 524 2480.
