WILLEMSTAD – Police conducted intensive inspections on Sunday as part of the “Fin di Aña Sin Zanzaña / End of Year Without Unrest” campaign. This was announced by the Curaçao Police Corps (KPC) in a press release issued on Monday.

Along the Caracasbaaiweg, officers inspected 71 vehicles and issued 29 fines. Violations included driving without a valid driver’s license, operating uninsured vehicles, and the use of cars with tinted windows.

Later in the day, additional checks were carried out in the neighborhoods of Otrobanda, Sta. Helena, and Buena Vista. During those operations, a suspect wanted in connection with a shooting incident was arrested. Police also confiscated knives and marijuana during the inspections.

Separately, a Jamaican man who was unable to present identification was detained on the Mirla Plateweg and handed over to the immigration authorities for deportation.

Police have announced that enforcement actions will be further intensified in the coming days and are urging the public to behave responsibly as the year comes to a close.
