Police Tow 20 Vehicles During Fuik Day Parking Enforcement

Local | By Correspondent January 7, 2026

WILLEMSTAD — Police towed 20 improperly parked vehicles on Sunday in the areas of Caracasbaai and Jan Thiel during the Fuik Day celebrations. The Korps Politie Curaçao had announced in advance that strict enforcement measures would be in place.

Many visitors left their cars near Caracasbaai and Jan Thiel before traveling by charter boat to Fuik Bay. Police intervened where vehicles were found to be illegally or double parked, causing obstruction and safety concerns.

In addition to the towing actions, one person was arrested for failing to comply with police instructions. According to the police, no further significant incidents were reported during the event.

Authorities said the measures were necessary to maintain traffic flow and public safety in the busy coastal areas during one of the island’s largest annual festivities.
