Police unions seek redress from Minister Hato

Local | By Correspondent August 30, 2022

WILLEMSTAD - Police unions and officers from the Curaçao Police Force (KPC) gathered at the parliament meeting hall on Tuesday afternoon to talk to Minister of Justice Shalten Hato. The actions follow a meeting of the NAPB police union during working hours.

Hato is said to have promised to attend the meeting but never showed up. During the NAPB meeting, various points of concern would be discussed, including the legal position of the Corps employees. After the minister's absence, the police union decided to suspend the meeting and visit the parliament building.

After some time, the minister addressed the unions and stated that he has so far not had time to meet with NAPB because of a full agenda, but that he is willing to meet with all unions on Thursday. However, NAPB insisted on an individual meeting with the minister.

After some discussion, Hato and the union leaders decided to continue the conversation behind closed doors. The meeting will take place on Tuesday evening at 7:00 PM.
