WILLEMSTAD - Curaçao Ports Authority (CPA) will compensate for the major damage caused to the coral reef during the construction of Mega Pier II in 2017. Concrete steps have now been taken with the signing of an agreement between the minister of Transport, Traffic and Spatial Planning Zita Jesus-Leito and the Caribbean Research and Management of Biodiversity (Carmabi).
It will be the protection of an underwater park funded by CPA. The surveillance and reporting of illegal activities will now be monitored by Carmabi at the expense of CPA.
