WILLEMSTAD - Ajax is considering the possibility of starting a soccer academy in Curaçao. In March a delegation from the Amsterdam club travels to the island.
That is what Young Holland board chairman, Stanley Gonett said in a recent interview.
The academy should be established in collaboration with the local soccer club Jong Holland. Stanley Gonett was recently in Amsterdam to persuade Ajax to play a match in Curaçao this year due to the centenary of Young Holland.
According to Gonett, Ajax sees opportunities to attract young talent in the region with a school in Curaçao. The academy is said to be a copy-paste of academies that are managed by Ajax elsewhere in the world.
The Curaçao Tourist Board, CTB, recently signed a sponsorship agreement with Ajax, which runs until June 2023. The Amsterdam club is said to receive around four million guilders on an annual basis.
