WILLEMSTAD - Aqualectra operators are the ones who caused the five power outages last year and early this year. This is stated in the report following an investigation that the utility company had carried out by internal and external experts.
The experts' report states that the malfunctions were caused by operator shortcomings. For example, instabilities on the power grid were caused by the incorrect response from the utility company's employees.
The report shows short- and long-term measures. One of the measures is to retrain Aqualectra operators.
Aqualectra previously blamed the failures on higher temperatures and Covid-19. It now appears that the malfunctions were caused by their own operators.
