WILLEMSTAD - Last week the Prime Minister of Curaçao, Eugene Rhuggenaath visited the Red Cross Suffisant, where a terrible fire broke out a few days earlier. The building, as well as many food packages ready to be distributed in connection with the COVID-19 crisis, went up in flames. “Tragically, in all such difficult times,” said the premier.

“The work of the Red Cross volunteers plays an important role in our society, especially in the event of a calamity or crisis. As commander in chief of the disaster relief agency, I know better than anyone how much we can count on them to give their loved ones a helping hand in difficult times,” said the premier on his social media.
Rhuggenaath says it was important for him to make this visit and to talk to the volunteers in person. “Such a destructive fire when the organization is offering help at full speed, you will not be left in the cold.”
“It was an honor and pleasure to hear, see and feel the resilience, courage and perseverance of this group. Working together to rebuild even stronger. On behalf of Curaçao I have expressed how proud and grateful we are!”
