Preparations made for the construction of eco-resort Bottelier

Local | By Correspondent August 30, 2021

WILLEMSTAD - On the border of the Bottelier neighborhood, preparations are being made for the construction of an eco-resort with eight to sixteen bungalows.

According to owner Dean Rozier, the resort is being constructed with a building permit and at a safe distance from the salt pans. “We are thinking of five to six animal houses and growing vegetables,” says Rozier. The salt pans have been designated as a conservation area by the Island Development Plan (EOP).

Local residents have expressed their doubts about the resort and fear it will be a nuisance. They are also afraid that the project will be at the expense of part of nature. According to Rozier, the project will actually improve the value of the neighborhood.

The first building materials have been delivered and the site is currently being leveled. The actual construction work will start no earlier than a year from now.
