President of Parliament concerned about lack of quorum

Local | By Correspondent January 28, 2021

WILLEMSTAD - President of Parliament Ana Maria Pauletta is concerned about the meetings of the parliament that are planned for the coming period. A meeting was scheduled for Wednesday where the minutes of previous meetings had to be approved. A bill on animal welfare would also be discussed.

But the opposition did not show up, so the meeting could not take place. A meeting is scheduled for today about an agreement between Curaçao and housing association FKP.

Pauletta says some opposition leaders have said they will not show up until the election. The coalition parties currently do not have a majority in the Parliament, because PAR States member Jeser El Ayoubi has resigned his seat and the credentials of his successor have not yet been submitted.

Pauletta hopes that opposition members will still come for the meetings.
