WILLEMSTAD - Surinamese who are stranded in Curaçao have to pay a lot of money to be able to travel to their home country.
The SLM is not flying for the time being and Fly All Ways is asking up to $ 650 for a one-way ticket. That is prohibitive for most Surinamese.
It is said that seventeen people took the opportunity to return with the first two repatriation flights. There are still thirty to thirty-five registered Surinamese in Curaçao. The actual number is higher because not everyone has registered.
