Prime Minister meets Dr. Patrick Gomes

Local | By Correspondent October 21, 2019

BRUSSELS - Prime Minister Eugene Rhuggenaath met with Secretary General Ambassador Dr. Patrick Gomes of the African, Caribbean and Pacific Group of States at the European Union in Brussels.

A good conversation was held where compatible challenges were identified on which we can collaborate, like climate change and economic diversification. In addition, cultural resilience and the developments surrounding Brexit and Post Cotonou were discussed.

Because the Secretary General is also the ambassador of Guyana for Belgium and the Netherlands, Prime Minister Rhuggenaath also spoke about bilateral issues. As neighboring country of Venezuela, Guyana also feels the effects of the crisis. It was agreed that a regional approach is needed in order to help in the migration crisis.
