WILLEMSTAD - Prime Minister Gilmar Pisas acknowledged in his Christmas address that 2025 was a difficult year for many people in Curaçao, marked by loss, financial hardship, and health challenges. At the same time, he called for unity and presented 2026 as a year focused on recovery, economic strengthening, and new opportunities under his government’s agenda.

In his message, Pisas expressed his sympathy to residents who lost loved ones during the past year or who faced personal and economic setbacks. According to the Prime Minister, these realities call for solidarity and moral strength, so that Curaçao can emerge from the crisis as a stronger and more resilient community.

Looking ahead, Pisas said that 2026 should be defined by work, innovation, and renewed perspective. He linked these ambitions to the policies of his third cabinet, which he said are aimed at strengthening the economy and expanding opportunities for the population, while also paying close attention to public safety and social cohesion.

The Prime Minister also addressed Curaçaoans living abroad, emphasizing their enduring connection to the island. He expressed the hope that they would continue to carry Curaçao “in their hearts,” despite the physical distance.

Pisas concluded his Christmas message by wishing the people of Curaçao a new year filled with health, progress, and stability, expressing confidence that collective effort and unity can help guide the island toward a more hopeful future.
