WILLEMSTAD – Prime Minister Gilmar Pisas received the newly appointed Consul General of China to Curaçao, Zhang Kaibin, on Friday, December 19, 2025, during a courtesy visit aimed at strengthening bilateral dialogue and exploring areas of mutual interest.
The meeting marked Consul General Zhang’s official introduction following his appointment to the island. During the visit, both sides discussed a range of topics relevant to Curaçao’s development, including healthcare, economic cooperation, and energy.

Prime Minister Pisas and Consul General Zhang also exchanged views on China’s broader regional engagement, including ongoing projects in the Caribbean and the potential relevance of the Belt and Road Initiative for Curaçao.
According to the government, the meeting took place in a cordial atmosphere characterized by mutual understanding and a shared interest in maintaining constructive and continuous dialogue. The visit underscores the intention of both Curaçao and China to explore opportunities for cooperation that could benefit the island’s long-term development.
