Prisoner dies after SDKK’s slow response

Local | By Correspondent May 14, 2020

WILLEMSTAD - The prison (SDKK) management has been heavily criticized recently after the death of prisoner Joamar Hoek in Curaçao Medical Center (CMC) yesterday. The man was taken there after a heart attack, which he suffered in block 5 of the SDKK.

Other prisoners are said to have sounded the alarm on Friday about the Hoek’s health condition but were not responded to by guards and management. He was not taken to the hospital until Monday.

According to credible sources, it is not the first time that there is no or slow response when prisoners have health problems.
