WILLEMSTAD - Any profits from oil and gas extraction in Curaçao must flow back to the population. The MAN faction in parliament believes this is the way it should be.
The coalition Party has successfully tabled an amendment to that effect. Last Monday, the Petroleum National Ordinance Curaçao Sea Area was adopted with that amendment.
If profits are ever made, that money must be invested in socio-economic development, such as health, the environment, climate change and combating poverty.
