Prospective students must apply for a declaration of good conduct early

Local | By Correspondent June 3, 2022

WILLEMSTAD - The Permits Desk in Saliña advises prospective students to apply for a Certificate of Good Conduct, a VOG as soon as possible. This is necessary if they are going to study in the Netherlands as a scholarship holder.

A VOG is a statement showing that their (judicial) past does not constitute an obstacle to fulfilling a specific task or function in society. When assessing a VOG application, the Ministry of Justice will check whether they have committed criminal offenses that pose a risk to the position or purpose for which they are applying for the VOG.

The application and granting in Curaçao takes about six weeks and is then valid for six months. A Certificate of Good Conduct costs 12.50 for students under 21, double that for everyone else, 25 guilders.
