WILLEMSTAD - A group of protestors has blocked the Presidente Romulo Betancourt Boulevard with trucks in the Parera area. They stood in front of the Ministry of Economic Development building demanding a meeting for Minister of Economy Dr. Steven Martina.

They are protesting the recent increase in fuel prices. The protesters wore shirts with the text “I Can't Breathe Curaçao”.
Minister Martina addressed these protestors but apparently, they want to continue their strike and present a letter to the minister at noon. The minister indicated that he is busy during that time and that they will have to give him the letter at that moment. The protestors rejected this.
The protestors say that oil prices have dropped worldwide. They do not understand why last month the tariffs were raised and this month again.
Police are on the spot to keep an eye on the situation.
