Public Prosecution Service monitors threats against Prime Minister

Local | By Correspondent February 3, 2022

WILLEMSTAD - The threats against Prime Minister Gilmar Pisas are monitored by the Public Prosecution Service (OM). Pisas has been getting a lot of insults and threats lately, but so far it seems that the Public Prosecution Service is doing little about it.

It now appears that the Public Prosecution Service is in talks with Pisas about possible security measures. In addition, it is considered on a case-by-case basis whether or not a report must be filed, according to the Public Prosecution Service.

Political party MFK called on the Public Prosecution Service yesterday to take action against the threats. Party leader Amerigo Thodé said in a statement that he was disappointed that nothing had been done against the complaints so far.

“These people set a bad example for the youth of how the community treats politicians,” he writes. “In addition, everything they write is wrong,” said Thodé.

At the end of last year, a 62-year-old man was sentenced to community service for threatening former Prime Minister Eugene Rhuggenaath and epidemiologist Izzy Gerstenbluth.
