Public Prosecutor Seeks Life Sentence in ‘Cloud and Bliksem’ Double Murder Case

Local | By Correspondent January 15, 2026

WILLEMSTAD - The Public Prosecution Service has demanded a life sentence against the main suspect in the investigation known as “Cloud and Bliksem.” The prosecution argues that the suspect committed two brutal murders that caused deep fear and suffering in the Seru Fortuna neighborhood.

During closing arguments, the public prosecutor described the killings as “bestial murders” and referred to the suspect as “the terror of the neighborhood.” The first murder occurred on September 29, 2022, when Sidney Marten Mercelina, known by the nickname Bliksem, was shot dead with at least 31 bullets. The second killing took place on May 19, 2023, when Jorvien Lloyd, known as Cloud, was fatally shot. According to the prosecution, both victims were executed in cold blood.

Court documents show that the suspect was not only the shooter but also openly flaunted firearms on social media. Photos and videos presented as evidence show him posing with automatic weapons and extended magazines. The prosecution stated that he deliberately portrayed himself as someone who did not shy away from extreme violence. During a house search, weapons and ammunition were found, further reinforcing the image of a violent lifestyle.

The murders are believed to be linked to tensions within the criminal underworld. The Public Prosecution Service stressed that the impact on the community has been profound, stating that the crimes not only destroyed lives but also created a lasting sense of insecurity in the area. The prosecutor described the acts as ruthless and argued that only a life sentence would do justice to the seriousness of the crimes. The court is expected to deliver its verdict at a later date.
