WILLEMSTAD - The suspect who was recently arrested in Zanzibar with a fake QR code is to appear in court on November 24. This was announced by the Public Prosecution Service.

The Public Prosecution Service spokesperson indicates that there is a high penalty for forging a document. “The maximum sentence is six years,” the spokesperson said. Since October 19, visitors who go to an event or activities with a 'high' risk must be able to show a QR code. Companies are obliged to carry out checks.

The Public Prosecution Service reports that there are intensive police checks. “For the first violation, a fine of 1,500 to 5,000 guilders can be imposed. The fines are even higher for the second violation," the spokesperson said.
