Refinery unions fear a fourth strike

Local | By Correspondent October 12, 2020

WILLEMSTAD - The unions representing workers of the Isla refinery held a presentation in Parliament today. The unions have expressed concerns about the situation at the refinery.

There is a chance that 400 employees will lose their jobs in December because the Curaçao Refinery Utilities (CRU) and Refineria di Korsou (RdK) have no more work for them. Also, 70% of employees have already seen their salary being cut by half. In addition, some employees would not have been paid for some months.

According to the unions, this could lead to a fourth strike which would be a lot worse than the first ones.
