THE HAGUE - The Dutch government has revealed that the rehabilitation of Tula, a revered figure in Curaçao's history and a symbol of resistance against slavery, will be finalized on October 3. This significant date marks the anniversary of Tula's death, who led a major uprising in 1795.
The announcement was made by the Rutte cabinet in a letter addressed to the House of Representatives, outlining the government's progress following the apologies for the Netherlands' involvement in the slave trade, which were conveyed in December. The letter provides further insights into the government's stance on matters pertaining to the Caribbean territories of the Kingdom.
