WILLEMSTAD - Taxpayers who have received a restructuring proposal for tax arrears must respond before April 1. Otherwise, the Collector's proposal will lapse. This is reported by the Minister of Finance Javier Silvania (MFK).
The Tax Collector has received more than 3,000 requests for remediation. Everyone who submitted a request before 1 January 2022 has now received a remediation proposal from the Tax Collector.
After agreeing to the remediation proposal, the Tax Collector will take the following steps so that the first payment can be made. This payment must be deposited into the Tax Collector's account before May 1. In this case too, if payment is not made, the remediation proposal will lapse. The Collector will then proceed to collect the tax debt through a bailiff.
The Minister of Finance issued the recovery guidelines on 7 July 2021. The reorganization scheme was part of these guidelines. Citizens were given the option to pay off their tax debt at a discount. This opportunity was offered until December 31, 2021.
Silvania calls on anyone who has not yet responded to the remediation proposal to do so. Persons who have submitted a remediation request before 1 January 2022 and have not yet received a remediation proposal, can send an email to sanering@gobiernu.cw.
