WILLEMSTAD - The Netherlands and Curaçao will conduct research into the impact of slavery on the lives of the inhabitants of Curaçao.
Historians of Radboud University do this together with the National Archives Curaçao and the Curaçao University. A database of digitized archive sources is being built for the project. These will be freely available to researchers and the public.
The basis for the database is the Curaçao slave registers and the Civil Registry of Curaçao, supplemented with archives of the Emancipation.
