Residents happy with open borders between Curacao and Aruba

WILLEMSTAD - On Curaçao and Aruba, many people have responded with satisfaction to the news that starting this Friday travel between the two countries will be possible again. That decision was announced on the islands on Tuesday. On August 4, Curaçao issued another negative travel advice for Aruba. However, according to the Curaçao epidemiologist Izzy Gerstenbluth, there is no longer a major risk.

According to him, there is currently a similar number of infections on the two islands. According to Gerstenbluth, there is no longer a major risk of contamination.

On Tuesday, there were 292 active infections and four people are in hospital. There were 256 active infections in Aruba on Tuesday. The number of deaths as a result of corona infections is very different. Curaçao has one death, a Dutch tourist died in hospital in March. In Aruba, 34 people died as a result of the coronavirus.
