Restoration work begins on Bandabou beaches

Local | By Correspondent June 28, 2024

WILLEMSTAD - Restoration work on the beaches of Bandabou commenced Thursday morning. The beaches are undergoing repairs after parts were destroyed following heavy rainfall in early May, as announced by the Ministry of Health, Environment, and Nature (GMN).

Playa Santa Cruz is one of the beaches where the work began on Thursday, with new sand being laid on the beach.

In early May, the government reported that it would do everything possible to restore the beaches as quickly as possible. GMN now states that some time was needed for contractors to submit their bids.

The beaches of Bandabou sustained significant damage. Due to the heavy rainfall, Playa Kalki and Playa Lagun were completely washed away by the water flowing from the land into the sea.
