Rhuggenaath not happy with early publication new minister's name

Local | By Correspondent November 12, 2020

WILLEMSTAD - Prime Minister Eugene Rhuggenaath is not happy that some media have already reported that Steven Croes has been nominated as the new Minister of Education. The prime minister himself refuses to confirm the name. He does not want to say anything before the screening has been completed and today wonders whether "we" have learned nothing from the past. Last year there was a lot of commotion when Neysa Schoop-Isenia was mentioned in the media as the new Minister of Economic Development and she ultimately it did not go through.

Rhuggenaath emphasizes that he has secrecy as a “formateur” responsible for forming a government. At the same time, he emphasizes the importance of people's privacy and the impact that violating it can have on family and career. During the screening procedure of Schoop-Isenia, it became known that the Central Bank of Curaçao and Sint Maarten had provided confidential information about her to the Minister of Finance.

But Croes’ name was confirmed by official sources and that is why it was published.
