WILLEMSTAD - The residents of the Rif area in Otrobanda want clarity about Social Housing Foundation’s (FKP) plans to sell monumental buildings. That is why they presented a letter with their questions and concerns to the Council of Ministers.
Minister of Education and Culture Sithree van Heydoorn received the letter on behalf of the government. The residents want FKP to renovate the buildings for habitation and not sell them to former MFK politician Rudney Garmes. Garmes and his partner former Prime Minister Gerrit Schotte want to buy the buildings for tourist rental. According to Minister Van Heydoorn, the full Council of Ministers will adopt a position on this.
