RIVM aware of fraud with corona test for Curaçao

Local | By Correspondent November 9, 2020

THE HAGUE - The National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) is aware of fake COVID-19 declarations that can be purchased online. The Epidemiology Department (EPI) indicated that it has already been in contact with the RIVM about this.

Travelers coming to Curaçao from the Netherlands are required to take a PCR test and are only allowed into Curaçao if the PCR test is negative. The test turns out to be easy to falsify itself, but it is also falsified via websites and social media.

Epidemiologist Dr. Izzy Gerstenbluth says he has investigated the possible forgeries at the RIVM. "The estimate there is that it is not about large-scale practices and that they cannot do much about it," said Gerstenbluth.

According to the epidemiologist, the RIVM is also not the inspectorate and the entity has no enforcement or investigation tasks.
