"Road through mangroves probably more expensive"

Local | By Correspondent May 10, 2019

WILLEMSTAD - An environmentally friendly route in Otrobanda is no more expensive than a road through the mangrove forest. Lloyd Narain of Amigu di Tera declared this.

The organization denounces the government's plans to make a road from the Social Insurance Bank (SVB) in Otrobanda to the Marriott Hotel in Piscadera that goes through the mangrove forest.

According to Narain, such plans are outdated, and an alternative route was already proposed to the government in 2012. He mentions a route along the mangrove forest instead of through it. The mangrove forest must then become a recreational park. There are costs involved, but according to Narain these can be adjusted.
