WILLEMSTAD - The world has been struggling with a COVID crisis for a year and healthcare in Curaçao is also being heavily burdened. In order to help the GPs and to make their task a bit easier, Paul van den Berg, Pulmonologist of the Curaçao Medical Center, set up a project together with the pharmaceutical company Roche to donate pulse oximeters to the GPs free of charge. With such a pulse oximeter, COVID patients can easily measure their blood oxygen level at home when they become short of breath. Below a certain value, the patient contacts his GP.

COVID patients who go home from the hospital can also be monitored with such a meter. Thanks to sponsoring from the company Roche, this collaboration in healthcare could be realized.
