QUEENS - Jean-Julien Rojer has reached the third round in doubles at the US Open. Together with Marcelo Arévalo, the Curaçaoan defeated the French duo Quentin Halys and Adrian Mannarino.
For a long time, Rojer and Arévalo went hand in hand with the Frenchmen, but in the tiebreak they still managed to beat the duo 6-4 7-6 (9).
The US Open is not unfamiliar territory for Rojer. The Curaçaoan won the tournament five years ago. Earlier this year, the Curaçaoan and his partner from El Salvador also won Roland Garros.
In the quarterfinals, Rojer and Arévalo play against Croatians Nikola Mektić and Mate Pavić.
