Local | By Press release July 7, 2021

WILLEMSTAD - The Rotary Club of Curaçao (RCC) had its Change of Board (CoB) ceremony at the end of June 2021 at Porto Restaurant. During this annual event, the outgoing president Mr. Marius van Noort presented a summary of the past year. Despite the challenges of the past year, the RCC was able to rethink, and adapt its modus operandi, with a steady focus on serving its community. The outgoing board was able to maintain the membership engaged through a combination of virtual and face-to-face club meetings in keeping with the social distance protocols. A number of members received special recognition for their exceptional contribution and the outgoing President concluded his remarks by thanking all the members and his outgoing board for their dedication to community service during the past year.

After the speech of the outgoing president, Mr. Pierrot Hurtado was installed as President of the Rotary Club Curaçao for the year 2021-2022. The newly installed President invited members of the new board to join him on stage for the installation of the Board 2021- 2022.

Aside from Pierrot Hurtado, the Board of the Rotary Club Curaçao consists of Corinne Senior as Secretary, Roy Jansen as Treasurer, Liane Virginia-Cova as Director Youth Services, Milaika Capella-Ras as Director Public Relations, Gino Campbell as Director Community Services, Vinod Daswani as Director Fundraising, Lusette Verboom as Incoming President, Alba Martijn as Incoming Secretary, and Marius van Noort as Immediate Past President.

The newly installed President, Mr. Pierrot Hurtado, followed the installation of his Board with an eloquent and enthusiastic speech highlighting his plans for the upcoming year. The central question is, “Who are we as Rotarians? We are Opportunity Creators; We are Community Builders; We are Problem Solvers; We are People of Action! As such for 2021 I ask you to join us to take action!” This was the President’s call for action. The areas of focus for the upcoming Rotary year are as follows:

• Supporting education
• Fighting disease
• Protecting the environment

“We need your Hands, your Minds and most of all your Hearts! We need to go into our neighborhoods and offer a helping hand. We will use our Hands for a proactive approach to community involvement; our Minds to offer effective and efficient solutions to challenges on our island; and finally, we will put our Hearts in every effort, engaging in an emphatic manner with those that we encounter along our path to serve. Special focus will be dedicated to our youth that deserve equal opportunities” to succeed. Those were the inspired words of the new President.

Mr. Hurtado thanked the outgoing President, Marius van Noort and his team for the job well done. Marius succeeded in keeping the RCC family together during challenging times.

To conclude the evening, Mr. Hurtado installed two new members, Ms. Jasmarijn de Paula and Mr. Guido Rojer. The Rotary Club of Curaçao is pleased to welcome both new members to the life of service.
