Rudolf de Wit against mandatory use of face mask

Local | By Correspondent November 17, 2020

WILLEMSTAD - The well-known Curaçao physiotherapist Rudolf de Wit is against the decision of the government to make the use of face mask mandatory when people visit shops or funerals, or use public transport.

According to De Wit, the decision is illegal. He calls it a slap in the face of "doctors, lawyers and anyone who knows it is illegal." According to him, there is no law to support the decision. In addition, De Wit says that it has not been proven at all that face masks actually protect.

De Wit has often been in the news in recent years with his fight against adding fluoride in Curaçao drinking water. Also with his objection to face masks, he insists that everyone is in charge of his or her own body.

According to him, years ago the government should have invested more in informing the population about healthy food and drink. De Wit says that it would have been more correct to teach people to increase their immune system instead of making face masks mandatory.
