WILLEMSTAD - Ruthsella Jansen has officially taken the oath for her appointment as Acting Governor of Curaçao. The ceremony took place yesterday in the presence of Governor Mauritsz de Kort, who assumed office earlier this month. Jansen’s appointment was made by Royal Decree on November 10.

Her formal installation before Parliament will take place in December. Jansen will assume her duties effective December 1, 2025, following the completion of the term of outgoing Acting Governor Michele Russel-Capriles.

The swearing-in ceremony was attended by ministers Charles Cooper, Sitree van Heydoorn, Roderick Middelhof and Kimberly Lew-Jen-Tai. Also present were Staten chairman Fergino Brownbill, parliamentary clerk Silvin Cijntje, and several members of Jansen’s family.

With her appointment, Jansen becomes the new senior official responsible for fulfilling the duties of the Governor during absences or when delegated, marking an important transition within Curaçao’s constitutional leadership.
