THE HAGUE - Perhaps illustrative of the new impetus that Prime Minister Mark Rutte promises, he for the first time explicitly mentioned the Caribbean parts of the Kingdom in a government statement issued by him.
“The cabinet will work together with all positive forces within and outside The Hague. So with the Lower Chamber and the Senate, with municipalities and provinces, with social partners, and furthermore with all organizations, groups and people who want to take our country further with their work, ideas and ambitions," Rutte added:
“And of course we work within the Kingdom on the basis of equality with the Caribbean countries and the Caribbean Netherlands.” Rutte also said: “And we will support initiatives that better visualize our shared history, such as a National History Museum and a National Slavery Museum.”
