Local | By Correspondent September 10, 2020

WILLEMSTAD - It is going well with mangrove sites planted by Ryan de Jongh. De Jongh says that it is important to contribute to nature. Over the past fourteen years, he has planted 100,000 cuttings from the mangrove plant.

De Jongh explains that the first five years after planting are the most difficult. "The cuttings take at least five years to produce aerial roots. Once that has happened, they will only start to grow considerably."

The organizer of kayaking activities planted Mangrove sites in the bays of Boca Samí, Sint Joris, the harbor, Nieuwe Haven and in the Spanish Water. "I didn't have to plant in the bay of Santa Cruz. Fortunately, the mangrove nature is and was intact there.

De Jongh asks the population to conserve nature and to be careful with the beautiful nature of Curaçao.
