WILLEMSTAD - The Saint Thomas College is organizing various activities in the coming days to commemorate the 135th anniversary of the arrival of the first 3 friars from Tilburg on Curaçao. In the years that they were active, the friars contributed a lot to the care and education of underprivileged children on the island.

This coming Sunday an exhibition will be held in Huize Scherpenheuvel with sculptures by Rignald Lakker, who was raised by the Friars of Scherpenheuvel. Until recently, Lakker was virtually unknown due to his reclusive existence, but his works of art are extremely popular.
Lakker is the artist behind the abstract sculptures that can be admired on many trees on the island.
