WILLEMSTAD - Ministers and Members of Parliament cannot simply reverse the cut on their salary. This reduction was applied in response to the liquidity support from the Netherlands. The time to implement this requirement must in any case be after June 30, 2023. This is stated in two Memoranda of Amendment.
The notes were sent to the Curaçao parliament last month. Tomorrow a central committee meeting of the parliament will discuss an adjustment of the salaries of ministers and Members of Parliament. According to Minister Armin Konket, the salaries on which a 25% discount has been implemented must be adjusted again. However, the reduction can only be withdrawn once the support from the Netherlands has ended.
