WILLEMSTAD - The sales tax on alcohol and tobacco sales goes up to 7 percent. Minister of Finance Kenneth Gijsbertha made this announcement recently. Earlier there were plans to raise the rate from 6 percent to 9 percent.
The government is thus meeting the concerns of the business community and the hotel sector. The increase will be implemented on July 1.
