School boards do not agree with minister

Local | By Correspondent September 18, 2020

WILLEMSTAD - Several school boards jointly sent a letter to the Interim Minister of Education Eugene Rhuggenaath yesterday. They have reservations about the measures that the government has announced.

If we follow the rules of social distancing, there can be no more than 15 students in each classroom, according to the school boards. The government assumes a maximum of 25 students.

In addition, the school boards, including the Association of Protestant Christian Education and the Roman Catholic Schools, are asking for more support in providing digital education. Many schools would not have enough internet bandwidth or "devices" to provide remote education.
