WILLEMSTAD - School boards in Curaçao think that one in five teachers will lose their job if the plans of the government continue.
Because cutting back on things other than salary is not possible. 46 million guilders must be cut. Of every 100 guilders that the Education sector receives, 90 guilders go to salaries of teachers and non-teaching staff.
According to the school boards, the 10 guilders that remain is not enough to pay for all other things, such as ICT, cleaning, utility, and school materials.
