WILLEMSTAD - All schools will remain closed until at least Monday 17 January. Minister Van Heydoorn of Education announced this during a press conference this afternoon. The reason is to prevent the spread of Covid-19 through students. The closure is part of a 10-day 'time-out' during which the government is imposing additional covid measures. After that, the plan is to reopen the schools, unless circumstances do not allow it.

To ensure that students do not lose class time, the carnival holidays will be canceled. It lasts six days. Including today and tomorrow, students have a total of 7 days off with next week. In practice, this means that they lose 1 day of classes.
