Schoop-Isenia could not intervene at Giro Bank

Local | By Correspondent May 13, 2019

WILLEMSTAD - The former candidate minister Neysa Schoop-Isenia could not intervene at the Girobank and the accusations that she is partly to blame for the financial malpractices at the bank are therefore unfair.

This is according to her lawyer Michael Bonaparte. He refers to the leaked memo from within the Central Bank which was written by Ersilia de Lannooy and given to the Minister of Finance Kenneth Gijsbertha by the interim president of the bank Leila Matroos-Lasten.

Isenia has had enough of all the allegations and wanted a rectification which did not happen. If she had continued as a candidate minister, she would not have been able to file a lawsuit against the interim president of the Central Bank Leila Matroos-Lasten.

As a Minister of Economic Development, according to the Isenia’s lawyer, it is not appropriate to file a lawsuit against a director of the Central Bank.
