WILLEMSTAD - Lizaima Da Costa Gomez, the lawyer representing former Prime Minister Gerrit Schotte, has announced that her client has not been eating for three days now. Warden Urny Floran of the SDKK prison had informed the media that it was fake news.
According to Da Costa Gomez, Schotte protests against illegality. At the beginning of May, the lawyer sent a letter to the management about matters such as the prison’s policy on the time prisoners get to be out of their cells, but to date she says she has not received an answer. A case against the prison is now being considered.
According to the lawyer, Justice Minister Quincy Girigorie is aware of the situation in the prison but does not take enough action.
