Screening process Steven Martina started

Local | By Correspondent July 4, 2019

WILLEMSTAD - The screening process of Steven Martina, the former minister of Economic Development, is still in full swing. Prime Minister Rhuggenaath has received the preliminary results but has not yet made any statements about it, because the Court of Justice is awaiting judgment.

The Korsou di Nos Tur party asked in a petition at the court to prosecute the former minister. Martina would have acted contrary to the National Integrity Ordinance (Candidate) Ministers. The former minister participated in decision-making about a rate change for the compulsory third-party liability insurance. At the time, Martina also had a business interest in the decision because he also owned shares in an insurance company. The opposition party has submitted a complaint. The Court will decide on 12 July whether to prosecute.
