WILLEMSTAD - The Sea Turtle Conservation Curaçao has rescued a turtle with fibropapillomatosis (FP). FP is a common disease that causes tumors in sea turtles.

“Thanks to great teamwork, we were able to save the turtle,” the Sea Turtle Conservation wrote on social media. The turtle is now being treated by vet Odette Doest and is expected to be cured in a few weeks. The turtle will then be released back into the sea.

Earlier this week, Sea Turtle Conservation also rescued a turtle with a hook in its cloaca, which was removed and the animal was returned to the ocean the next day.
